St. Louis College of Pharmacy’s No. 8 ranking was highlighted by a significant increase in research growth of 282.9% during 2018-19. Having quadrupled its research funding from $2.39 million in 2018 to $9.15 million in 2019, the College ranked No. 1 for research growth among all institutions on the list.
“We have been working very hard over the past year to enhance our research capacity, and it’s incredible to see that our efforts are paying off,” said Tom Burris, Alumni Chair in Pharmaceutical Education and vice president for research at the College. “It’s an honor to rank among the 10 largest research universities in the region, and it’s especially exciting to see that we’re leading the way in research growth. This has been a tremendous period for research at the College, and I look forward seeing what success is yet to come.”
Since Burris’ arrival at the College, extramural funding has increased rapidly. Today, The College currently receives annual federal funding through granting agencies such as the NIH and the U.S. Department of Defense. The College also receives private foundation funding through organizations like the American Heart Association.
