Jill Bright Recognized with Outstanding Leadership Award

Though sometimes overlooked by students until the finals crunch, college libraries are essential in ensuring student success. A place of resources, libraries house books and periodicals and even serve as a place to check out the latest DVD releases, but perhaps the most powerful resources in the library are the librarians themselves.
Driven by a passion to cultivate curiosity, empowerment through knowledge and a love of life-long learning, the award-winning and published librarians at St. Louis College of Pharmacy are always looking for new ways to expand access and support an enriching environment for growth, learning and leadership in the College community.
Jill Bright, electronic resources librarian, was recently recognized with the 2018 Outstanding Leadership Award from the St. Louis Medical Librarians (SLML) for her many years of work and service as board president and membership chair for the organization. Bright has been with SLML for more than 12 years.
“This award is a nice honor from a group that I love and who has such a long history,” Bright said. “It is so rewarding to be a part of that history and see how even small things make a difference in keeping an organization going.”
Bright has also received the Serials Specialist Award from the North American Serials Interest Group and the Leadership Award from the St. Louis Metro Area Chapter Special Libraries Association, both in 2012.
As the electronic resources librarian at the College, Bright connects the College community to a plethora of resources from all over the country. Bright also brings her knowledge of library circulation, serials management, bibliographic instruction and online research to her position, adding to the talented and multifaceted team of librarians at the College.
From research assistance to checking out books and movies to enjoy just for fun, the library is a great place to enrich learning and have fun doing so.
