St. Louis College of Pharmacy Tops Out New Construction

Published on 08 October 2014

A large steel beam signed by hundreds of students, alumni, faculty, and staff at St. Louis College of Pharmacy is now high above the campus.  The beam was raised into place as part of a “topping out” ceremony marking the completion of the building’s steel frame for the College’s academic and research building and library. Construction of the 213,000 square foot building remains on schedule.

The day before the ceremony, members of the College community were invited to sign their name. Many took advantage of the opportunity, including more than 150 virtual signatures sent in by alumni and friends from around the world. Volunteers wrote each person’s name on the beam.

Under a bright blue sky, the beam went skyward. By tradition, the beam was topped with a small tree symbolizing good luck and also accompanied by an American flag and a flag bearing the College’s seal. Classes will be held in the new building next fall.
