National Influenza Vaccination Week
Published on 03 December 2013
This week is National Influenza Vaccination Week. Clark Kebodeaux, Pharm.D., BCACP, assistant professor of pharmacy practice at St. Louis College of Pharmacy, has been vaccinating patients for more than five years as part of his pharmacy practice. In honor of the week, he has three important points about the flu vaccine:
Every week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publish a report on flu activity in hospitals around the country. The number of cases in Missouri and Illinois remain low, but nationally the numbers are increasing. In our area, the report from the St. Louis County Department of Health shows the number of flu patients are increasing, but they remain a small percentage of all hospital emergency room visits.
