Walgreens Career Explorers Diversity Outreach Program
The Walgreens-St. Louis College of Pharmacy Career Explorers Diversity Outreach Program is a four-week summer program designed to prepare a diverse group of students to explore the various career opportunities in a community pharmacy. The program is open to any St. Louis metropolitan area high school student over the age of 16 that has a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Twenty-five students will be selected for participation in the program, which is held Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Students will spend approximately half of the program at St. Louis College of Pharmacy attending classes, working on a project, and enjoying field trips to observe other pharmacy practice settings such as hospital and community pharmacies, and the pharmaceutical industry. During the other portion of the program, each student will gain hands-on experience assisting the pharmacy manager and technician with dispensing prescriptions at a Walgreen’s pharmacy location.
After completion of the program, each student receives a $1,200 stipend and a certificate of completion at a graduation ceremony held at St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
