St. Louis College of Pharmacy Honors its Distinguished Alumni

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis College of Pharmacy recently announced its 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients, which is the highest recognition bestowed by the College’s Alumni Association.

The recipients are:

Meike Newell ‘97 (Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to the Community): As a clinical manager for the Eastern Missouri Psychiatric Hospital System in St. Louis, Newell builds relationships between her clients and clinical pharmacy programs and community agencies to ensure a continuity of quality care. Newell also provides medication education programs for her clients’ families, health care staffs and community groups. Outside of work, she volunteers with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Lieutenant Alexis Beyer ‘06 (Young Alumni Award): Beyer’s pharmacy education has helped thousands of displaced people after Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, educated patients at the Alaska Native Medical center and provided pharmacy logistical support for the medical tents set up on the National Mall during President Barack Obama’s inauguration. In addition, Beyer is an educator and role model to current students who are completing their outpatient pharmacy rotation at the Alaska Native Medical center, where she is a pharmacist, community educator and a health care liaison.

Larry Windmoeller ‘69 (Distinguished Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievement): During his 23 years at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics, Windmoeller was responsible for in-patient pharmacy services within the heath center. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and recognition, including Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Pharmacist of the Year and the Past President’s Award, and was twice named Mid-Missouri Society of Hospital Pharmacists’ Hospital Pharmacist of the Year.

Todd Evers ‘87 (Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to the Profession): Evers is owner at Evers Group of Pharmacies, which includes five locations in Illinois. He’s committed to making sure his patients and employees receive quality care. Additionally, Evers is a member of the College’s Board of Trustees, Gateway East Pharmacy Association, and Illinois Pharmacist Association.
