What: St. Louis College of Pharmacy Commencement Ceremony
Commencement speaker Dennis K. Helling, Pharm.D., D.Sc., FCCP, FASHP graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1971. He is currently the executive director of pharmacy operations and therapeutics at Kaiser Permanente in Denver, Colo. There, he oversees 900 employees in 29 pharmacies.
Helling has received many achievements and awards for his work including the 1988 St. Louis College of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumnus Award for Service to the Profession; the 1997 Health Care Executive of the Year Award; the first recipient of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Paul F. Parker Medal (2002); the 2002 American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) Best Practice Award; the 2003 American Pharmacists Association Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM) Distinguished Achievement Award in Specialized Pharmaceutical Services; the 2004 Daniel B. Smith Practice Excellence Award; the 2003 APhA Foundation Pinnacle Award for Group Practice Health-System; the 2007 APhA Foundation Pinnacle Award for Individual Career Achievement; the 2009 Bowl of Hygeia; and the 2010 ACCP Distinguished Achievement Award in Ambulatory Care.

About St. Louis College of Pharmacy: Founded in 1864, St. Louis College of Pharmacy is one of the oldest and largest colleges of pharmacy in America. The College admits students directly from high school and integrates the liberal arts and sciences with a six-year professional curriculum leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Approximately 1,250 students attend, and more than 72 percent of practicing pharmacists in the St. Louis metropolitan area are alumni.
