Course Reserves

Information for Students

1. What is Course Reserves?

The Library provides access to most textbooks used in classes, models, DVD's, and select other materials.

2. How long can I keep a reserve item?

Most course materials may be checked out for 2 hours and must remain in the Library during that time. Overnight checkout's are not allowed. Please return your reserve items on time to avoid overdue fines. 

3. How can I tell if something is on reserve for my class?

To find out if an item is on reserve, use the Course Reserves page in the Library catalog to search for your class. You can search for classes by course name or instructor name. Items on Course Reserves are located at the Circulation Desk for check out. To check out a course reserve item, simply ask at the Circulation Desk for the book or item you want.

4. Where can I return a reserve item?

Reserve items should be returned to library staff at the circulation desk.

5. Can I make a reservation for a reserve item?

We cannot put holds on or set aside reserve items to be picked up at a specific time. Reserve items are checked out and renewed in person on a first come, first served basis.


Information for Faculty

1. What kinds of materials can be placed on reserve?

We can place books, DVD's and other select items on reserve for check out.

2. How can I put something on reserve?

To place items on reserve for a class, please fill out the Faculty Course Reserves Request Form.

When submitting your request, please include:

  • Class name and number

  • Instructor's name

  • Author, title, publisher, edition, date of publication, and page numbers (if applicable)
