David Baker is the head coach for the Eutectic indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Practice begins when classes resume in January. The four to five meets during the season are held mostly on weekends. The season concludes in April with the KIAC Championship Meet.

Chew is Conference Champion; Euts Finish Fifth

Bethany Chew (P2) maintained her conference champion status in the javelin throw on Saturday, May 2, at the American Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Columbia, Mo. Her mark of 33.86m (111’01”) was five meters better than the second-place throw at the meet. The win secured Chew’s second conference championship and fourth all-conference performance in the javelin during her four-year career on the Eutectic track and field team. It was also Chew’s second consecutive javelin win this season, after begin named AMC Field Athlete of the Week for her winning throw at the Dewey Allgood Invitational on April 18.

points to finish fifth of eight teams. Sarah Pollmann (P1) collected seven more points for the Euts with a fifth-place finish in the 800m (2:31.41) and sixth place in the 1500m run (5:03.48). Janki Patel (second-year), who took fourth place in 5,000m run (19:34.65), and Katelyn Huhn (second-year), who was fourth in the pole vault breaking her own STLCOP record by two inches (2.35m, 7’08.5”), earned four points each for the Eutectics. The STLCOP 4x100m relay team of Huhn, Kathryn Rapp (freshman), Samantha Walters (freshman), Hailey Finnegan (freshman) finished fifth overall with a time of 58.45 and claimed four more points. The remaining STLCOP points came from Hannah Teer (freshman), who was seventh in the long jump (3.82m, 12’06.5”), Huhn, who was eighth in the long jump (3.76m, 12’04”), and Rebecca Larson (P1), who was eighth in the discus (25.82m, 84’08.5”) and the hammer throws (24.86m, 81’06.75”).
