The Eutectic women’s tennis team finished the season in seventh place of nine teams in the KIAC with a record of 2-6. Faced with a tough schedule of only conference teams, the Euts got wins over Alice Lloyd College and Carlow University, defeating both 6-0 on Oct. 19.

Third-year No. 5 singles player LeAnn Tran earned KIAC Player of the Week honors on Oct. 21 for her victories over Asbury University and Carlow, going 3-0 for the week of Oct. 14. She finished the regular season 9-2 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles.

At the conference tournament in Midway, Ky., the Eutectics were scheduled to play No. 2 ranked Brescia University in the first round. Having lost 3-6 to Brescia during the regular season, the Euts had a fighting chance, but could not pull off the upset, losing 0-5. Tran and fellow third-year Carmen Stach were named to the All-Conference Second Team after the tournament by a coaches vote.

At the Fall Sports Athletic Awards Banquet on Nov. 24, Tran and Stach received special tennis team awards for their seasons. Tran earned the Singles Player of the Year award for having the best singles record. She shared the Doubles Team of the Year award with partner and second-year captain Amanda Empson. They had a stellar season record of 4-1. Stach received the Coaches’ Award for her positive attitude, hard work and dedication to the team.
