How to Apply for Aid

St. Louis College of Pharmacy is pleased to offer a step-by-step guide to receiving financial aid. Students may use their personal financial aid site to manage each year's aid:

STLCOP Financial Aid Site: https://secure.stlcop.edu/NetPartnerStudent/
    o Review missing documents
    o Financial aid awards
o Loan disbursement dates and history
    o Electronically accept aid

The following steps are required to receive financial aid:

Note: Students wishing to receive only institutional scholarships (no federal grants or loans) may skip to step four. You should notify the financial aid office that you are not applying for federal aid. Students seeking ALL types of aid are encouraged to complete the steps outlined below. Contact the Office of Financial Aid with questions at: 314.446.8328 or 800.278.5267, ext. 8329.

Step 1 - File your 2012 federal tax return
Your tax information (and your parents’ if you are a first-, second-, or third-year student) is necessary to complete the 2013-14 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), your application for Federal need-based aid and student loans.

Step 2 - Retrieve your Federal PIN
This number is used to sign your FAFSA. You may retrieve forgotten PINs at www.pin.ed.gov. Parents (for first-, second- and third-year students) and students must obtain a federal PIN as both are required to sign the FAFSA electronically.

Step 3 – Complete your FAFSA
Complete your 2013-14 FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Beginning in late February, you may use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to load financial information to your FAFSA directly from your federal tax return – this will make completing the FAFSA much easier and decrease your chances of being selected for verification by the Department of Education. Follow the FAFSA instructions beginning on question 79 to use this feature.

Missouri state grant deadline: April 1, 2013
(Undergraduate students only, FAFSA must be filed by April 1, all corrections must be complete by July 1.)

Step 4 – Review your Award Notice and Complete Documents
Once you receive an award notice from the Financial Aid Office, go to the NetPartner site (see above) to accept or decline your financial aid.

Go to the “Documents” tab and note any documents marked “Not Received.” You must submit these documents before receiving your financial aid.

Step 5 – Calculate your Costs
Calculate the costs associated with your 2013-14 attendance. These may include direct costs (tuition and fees) as well as elective and indirect costs (parking, room and board, transporation, books, etc.).

Step 6 – Pay your Balance
Once you have figured your costs, compare the total to the aid listed on your award notice. Decide whether to pay the difference using the Business Office payment plan, a Parent/Graduate PLUS loan or a private student loan.

Parent/Graduate PLUS loan applications are available Online

Private student loans are loans in students' names secured through banks or credit unions. Private lenders commonly used by STLCOP students may be reviewed on Fast Choice, though students are not restricted to the lenders on this list. Students are encouraged to apply for private loans with a co-signer. Co-signers are required for private loan approval in most cases.

You are welcome to schedule a financial aid appointment to discuss all of these steps in person, but you may complete the steps on your own if the appointment is inconvenient for you. Contact the Financial Aid Office to schedule an appointment.
