If I am applying for the freshman class of 2013, do I have to complete the writing portion of the ACT or SAT for admission?

No. Applicants for admission to the freshman class of 2013 do not have to complete the writing portion of the ACT or SAT.

What is unique about St. Louis College of Pharmacy?

• STLCOP has a direct entry program, which means first-year students are admitted directly from high school into the pharmacy program.
• There is no reapplying or PCAT (pharmacy college admission test) requirement to gain entry into the first professional year of the program in year three.
• STLCOP is the only independent college of pharmacy offering a sole degree in pharmacy.

What are the admission deadlines?

What is Early Decision?

Early Decision is an application process in which the College makes a binding commitment to a student for admission and a student makes a binding commitment to the institution to enroll if admitted. The College encourages Early Decision applications from students who would clearly rank St. Louis College of Pharmacy as their first choice college.

The benefits of Early Decision are:

• Guaranteed place in the highly competitive freshman class if admission requirements are met
• Early notification of acceptance to their first choice college
• Opportunity to attend early orientation sessions

The obligations of the Early Decision candidate to St. Louis College of Pharmacy are:

• While pursuing Early Decision admission to the College, students may not apply to any other Early Decision plan. Multiple Early Decision application filings will nullify the student's application to STLCOP. Early Decision supersedes all other applications. Immediately upon an offer of admission, a student must withdrawal all regular decision applications and make no subsequent applications.
• Submission of a non-refundable $500 deposit within 15 business days of notification of admission. This deposit will be applied to the first semester's tuition charges.
• Completion of an Early Decision Agreement Form signed by the student, a parent or guardian and a guidance counselor verifying an understanding of the commitment and terms of the agreement.
• Submission of all required Early Decision documents must be postmarked no later than Dec. 15. No exceptions or extensions can be made for this deadline.

Applicants not accepted for Early Decision might be deferred for unbiased consideration during the Regular Decision process. If deferred to Regular Decision, the student will be released from the Early Decision agreement. However, the College reserves the right to inform a student that s/he is not accepted and that consideration under the Regular Decision process would not change that decision.

Should a student who applies for financial aid not be offered a package that makes attendance possible, the student may be released from the Early Decision commitment. A financial aid package may consist of some of the following: scholarships, grants, work-study, loans and the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as reflected on an official Student Aid Report determined by the results of the FAFSA.

What is Regular Decision?

Students applying to St. Louis College of Pharmacy under the Regular Decision plan who meet the College’s minimum admission requirements will be admitted based on availability of space in the first-year class. The size of the first-year class will not exceed 250 students and might be capped lower. The following principles apply to the Regular Decision plan:

• Students applying to St. Louis College of Pharmacy under Regular Decision may apply to other colleges without restriction.
• The postmark deadline for the complete application and all required supporting documents is Feb. 1. No extensions or exceptions will be made for this deadline. Decisions on acceptance will be sent no later than mid-March.
• A refundable deposit of $300 will be requested within 15 business days of the notification of acceptance. This deposit may be returned to the student at any time up until May 1. A written request asking for a refund is required postmarked no later than May 1.

Students may be granted an extension until May 1 to submit the $300 deposit without jeopardizing their admission status. A written request for an extension must be submitted within 10 days after notification of acceptance. However, students are strongly encouraged to make a decision and submit the refundable deposit soon after an offer of acceptance is received. Space is limited and admission is highly competitive.

What is the wait list?

Once the first-year class has been filled, applicants will be placed on a wait list for admission.

Admission will not be offered or denied at the time the student is placed on the wait list. However, the College will only offer a space on a wait list if there is a b possibility that an offer of admission will be made before the admission cycle ends.

Final status for wait-listed students will be determined between May 1 and August 1.

How difficult is it to get accepted to the College?

Admission is very competitive due to the high number of qualified applicants and the limited space in the incoming class. Those who consider STLCOP to be their first-choice college should consider applying under the Early Decision process.

Is financial aid available?

Yes, in fact almost 99% of STLCOP students receive some type of financial aid. More information can be found on the Financial Aid & Scholarships page.

Are scholarships merit or financial aid based?

The College offers both types. First-year scholarships are generally merit-based on high school test scores and GPA. For more information, visit our Scholarships page.

Does the College accept dual college credit and AP class credit?

Yes, with the exception of science classes. Dual college credit courses must have a grade of C or higher (we do not accept dual enrollment credit for precalculus or calculus). AP classes must have a minimum score of 3, except for Calculus and AP English Language and Composition, which require a minimum score of 4. 

What are the minimum ACT and GPA requirements for admission?

•  ACT minimum requirements are: 23 composite, 24 math sub-score, and 21 in English, science and reading sub-scores.
• GPA minimum is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

What is the average ACT and GPA of the first-year class?

• Average ACT is 28

What is the average first-year class size?

The College generally admits approximately 240 first-year students.

Is on-campus housing available?

Yes. First-year housing is available in the Residence Hall for up to 182 first-year students, or 73% of the class. Preference is given to freshmen who live outside of a 50-mile radius of the College.

What meal plans are available?

All first-year residents purchase the minimum point package for meals, which provides two balanced meals per day, as part of their room and board. Additional points may be purchased. More information about dining options can be found on the Dining on Campus page.

What extra-curricular activities are available at the College?

The College participates in NAIA Division II Intercollegiate Athletics in men's and women's basketball, cross country and women's volleyball. In addition, students play on club sport and intramural teams and participate in theatrical productions and more than 40 clubs and organizations. More information can be found under Campus Life.
