The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program at St. Louis College of Pharmacy prepares students for a variety of careers after graduation. Opportunities open to Pharm.D. graduates include practice in the following areas: community, hospital, managed care, pharmaceutical industry, academia, and consultant pharmacy.
The STLCOP curriculum consists of 208 semester hours in six years of study. It is divided into:
- 175 semester hours of required coursework,
- 21 hours of elective coursework
- 33 hours devoted to advanced practice experiences in Year 6.
Included in the required coursework in Years 3, 4, and 5 are introductory practice experiences (IPE) which expose students to various practice settings and teach them basic pharmaceutical care practice skills. In Year 6, students work with pharmacists during eight five-week rotations at pharmacy sites in the United States.
